Test Duration & Format

The LanguageCert International ESOL exam is divided into two components:

Test Sections & Task Details

Listening (30 minutes)
Assesses comprehension skills through recordings covering both general and academic English.

Reading (30 minutes)
Evaluates understanding of factual, descriptive, and discursive written texts.

Writing (60 minutes)
Includes two tasks: one formal (essay, report, or email) and one informal or semi-formal piece.

Speaking (12–15 minutes)
Face-to-face or online video interview with an examiner, including a short monologue, interaction, and discussion.

Scoring Pattern

LanguageCert provides separate results for Written and Spoken exams:

• Written Exam (Listening, Reading, Writing):   • Pass (50–74%)   • High Pass (75% and above)
• Spoken Exam (Speaking):   • Pass (50–74%)   • High Pass (75% and above)
• Minimum 50% required in each section to pass
• Candidates can retake only the failed component without repeating the entire exam
• Results are typically available within 3–5 working days
